Finding a church is always an important goal when I move to a new city. I had no idea what kind of church selection to expect in Switzerland, but after some Google searching and some referrals from a new Swiss friend, I had a couple of options. During my pre-move visit, I managed to find my way from Vevey to C3 Church Lausanne (without a car – thanks to the SBB app and Google Maps)!
Check out their website:
My experience was AMAZING for several reasons:
The service is bilingual – half the songs are in English, half in French. The entire service is translated into both languages. SO good for my French and yet the English allows me to fully understand. The service was fantastic. It’s evident that they have a heart for the city of Lausanne.
A girl sat down right next to me and made it a point to introduce herself and learn about me. She is British and has lived in Lausanne for five years. She co-leads a women’s Connect Group on Monday nights, invited me to join, and introduced me to two other women in the group.
I met the pastor and his wife at the Welcome booth following the service. While speaking with them, I met another new friend who just moved here from Guatemala to earn her PhD. AND the two of us managed to have a conversation mostly in French with one of the greeters. I love when people push me to use my French!
- [FREE] FOOD
It happened to be the day of their quarterly “Welcome Lunch” for new people. A great opportunity to get to know my new friend more, converse with the pastor & his wife, and to hear about what the church is all about.
- FOLLOW UP
The week following my visit, one of the guys on staff emailed me to thank me for coming and the pastor friended me on facebook. I definitely felt welcomed and loved after just one visit!
How sweet of the Lord to take care of this important decision so quickly. I’m grateful to have a place to call “home” while I’m in Switzerland.
My return to Switzerland corresponded with the church’s annual weekend conference. I spent Friday night and Saturday attending C3 Impact (#c3impact). Along with the pastor & his wife, there were also guest speakers from the US and Australia. All of them spoke about new beginnings and taking steps of faith to achieve our dreams…things that are incredibly meaningful to me right now. My favorite line of the weekend was from Rob Carman:
“God is the creator of adventure!”
It’s wonderful to experience these moments of confirmation reminding me that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
