In 2008, I visited Rome for the first time. Several Miami friends were living there, and I spent a week and a half touring Italy with them. While I wanted to visit them again, it didn’t happen. That is, until we became country neighbors!! One of my first priorities upon moving to Europe was to spend a weekend in Rome. (Yes, many of them still live there – 5.5 years later!) It’s only a 1.5 hour flight, so it it makes for an easy getaway!
My visit was perfect – a great mix of activity, relaxation, good food, and quality time with old friends. I tried to capture as much of it as possible in pictures. Rome is amazing, and I’m quite confident this won’t be my last visit.
[An incredibly delightful fall meal on Friday night – Chicken Pot Pie & Apple Dessert]
[After pastries & cappuccino at a café, we took a leisurely stroll through the City Center on Saturday morning…past the Colosseum]
[Around the Forum]
[And past the Pantheon]
[Sharing an AMAZING pizza at Récafé…and also escaping the brief rain shower]
[And who could resist the new four-story H&M?!]
[I love the Trevi fountain and requested that we walk by it. Below is our picture from 5.5 years ago as well as the self-portrait from this weekend. Amazing to think of all that’s changed in our lives since my last visit.]
[Next stop – a 30th Birthday Party!!]
[The birthday girl just had this little one 2.5 weeks ago! Isn’t she a doll?! LOVE that I got to meet her so soon!]
[The celebration culminated at dinner…amazing Carbonara, amazing friends, and amazing weather to enjoy our meal outside!]
Sunday included breakfast, a wonderful Italian church service, and lunch with more friends. I left feeling refreshed and grateful for friendships that withstand time and distance.
