All good things must come to an end. It’s like the weather knew it was our final day in Paris. It was overcast and rainy, but we started the day buying macrons at Ladurée…and some desserts for later. When in Paris!
What else do you do on a rainy day in Paris? Check out some art museums! First up? Musée de l’Orangerie. There is an exhibit of eight mammoth size canvases of Monet’s “Water Lilies.” They are displayed in two oval rooms, so you’re completely surrounded by the “Water Lilies.” They were amazing. You’re not allowed to take pictures, but I photographed a postcard to show you what the room was like.
That beautiful Eiffel Tower just keeps appearing when you least expect it.
From there, we walked in the rain to the Louvre. We saw some of the amazing works – Venus de Milo, Mona Lisa, and several others. It was hotter than blazes inside, but the art work helped distract us from the heat.
[So many adoring fans…]
[We fought our way to the front of the crowds for a selfie with the Mona Lisa]
A friend of ours told us there was a good restaurant on the first floor of the museum. We wandered over there for a late lunch and found out that it was Angelina – the same restaurant with the amazing breakfast from a few days prior. We had Croque Monsieurs, and I had to try an iced hot chocolate. Yum!
The sun made its way out by the end of the afternoon. We took advantage and headed to Montmartre. Sacre Coeur, adorable winding cobblestones, and little shops were so sweet.
We ended the evening with a late night dinner at an outdoor cafe overlooking the Eiffel Tower. It was the perfect way to end a fantastic trip!
