In the past eight years, I’ve been to 53 weddings in 15 US States. One of my friends used to joke with me that weddings were my hobby. With all of my wedding experience, there are two things I’ve never done:
- Attend a wedding in a foreign country
- Crash a wedding
After this weekend, I can say I’ve done both.
The full story is a good one for a time when we’re catching up in person. Long story short, one of my colleagues was invited to bring several friends with him to a wedding here in Switzerland. The bride & groom are not Swiss, so there were guests from all over the world. It was a black tie affair at a lovely venue in the area. We dressed to the nines and enjoyed the evening.
[How thoughtful of the bride & groom to have a tv showing the World Cup]
[Like any good wedding crashers, we had to take a picture with the bride]
[I always try to take a picture of the cake cutting, and this wedding was no exception]
A jazz band played for most of the reception. I couldn’t help but think of my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew when they played “Georgia on my Mind.” How funny to be halfway around the world still singing songs about the south!
Just another first while living in Switzerland…
