Anyone who knows me knows how much I LOVE fireworks! I was so disappointed that we couldn’t have fireworks on the 4th of July. Then, I missed Swiss National Day while I was in China, which meant missing out on a lot of fireworks shows. So, I was especially excited to go to Geneva on Saturday to see the fireworks marking the end of the Geneva Festival.
I took the train from Vevey to Geneva with a friend who hadn’t been to Geneva before. We met up with one of my Geneva friends for a walk through old town and a local park. It was crazy hot, but so beautiful. And, I was just grateful for no rain! Finally!
We headed back to the festival to find some food, and I was SO EXCITED to find Mexican food! Of course, one small taco was 8 CHF, but I guess I should expect these kind of things from Switzerland by now. I was happy to be eating a taco – even if it was so full that I had to eat it with the wooden fork and knife they gave me.
We purchased tickets to sit in a reserved area to watch the fireworks. Some other friends were waiting for us there. It was so nice to sit on benches without being mobbed by the crowds along the lake.
The show started promptly at 10:00pm, and it ran for an hour! It was GORGEOUS! Literally the best fireworks show I’ve ever seen. There were so many unusual fireworks that I haven’t seen before, and the entire thing was set to music. I’m pretty sure I had a HUGE smile on my face the whole time!
