I introduced you to Brinner back in December after I hosted it for the first time. When my Barnacle was packing up to move back to the States, she brought over some groceries for me to keep, including all of the pancake mix she brought from the States. (She brought this, because I warned her that there wasn’t any here. It wasn’t until she got here (with said pancake mix) that she informed me that she doesn’t really eat pancakes.) It reminded me that I, too, have a lot of pancake mix. Perhaps it was time to host another Brinner!
Since we would be coming home from Greece on Saturday night, I proposed a Sunday Brinner as an option for a casual gathering with our closest friends. Several people are traveling (and some of our favorites have already moved away), but there were 12 people present for Brinner, which was really fun! We had chocolate chip pancakes, blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon, blueberry muffins, and fruit. Yum! Unfortunately, it takes A LOT longer to cook pancakes two at a time in a pan on the stove than when I used to make 4-6 at a time on my electric griddle. But, the crowd was patient, and we all really enjoyed some breakfast for dinner!
Unfortunately, even after a week of good-bye celebrations…and a final hoorah in Greece…and a Farewell Brinner with our friends, my Barnacle had to go home. This didn’t make either of us very happy.
Who would’ve thought that the carpet square between our rooms at a Kansas City hotel nearly three years ago would be the start of a really fun friendship that extended all the way to Switzerland for eight months of amazing memories?! I find it so appropriate that the final song on our bus ride to the port in Santorini on Saturday was “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” by Michael Bolton. Way too dramatic, but also slightly how I feel right now. I will miss you, friend! Come visit soon.
