When I moved to Switzerland, my area of focus within Nestlé changed. No longer was I working on our pet care brands. My new responsibility was Beverage, our largest brand being NESCAFÉ. Once a year, the Global team holds a NESCAFÉ Marketing Seminar, and this year, I was able to attend. It lasted 10 days and was one of the most intense trainings I’ve ever attended, but it was so good. There were 74 participants from 42 different countries! As you can imagine, I now have a lot of new friends scattered around the world! Some of which I’ll get to see throughout this year in places like Egypt, Dubai, Australia, and the Philippines! I love expanding the circle! While the workload was intense between days of speaker sessions and several group case studies, there were some fun moments, too!
[Welcome to the NESCAFÉ Marketing Seminar 2015!]
[Faces of all of the participants]
[You know you’re working on a cool brand when they partner with Swatch to make a customized NESCAFÉ watch as a welcome gift!]
[One of our dinners was served in the dark (complete with eye masks and aprons for everyone) to culminate a day of speaking about the five senses]
Last weekend, we went to Crans-Montana for a ski weekend and group presentations. I opted for a weekend off of skis, choosing snow shoeing and dog sledding instead.
[You would be amazed at how long it takes to get snowshoes on more than a dozen first-timers!]
[Follow the leader!]
[The dogs were SO excited to start sledding!]
[And I was, too!!]
[That was so fun!]
[And clearly I wore one of them out! Or maybe he just really loves the snow?]
[We met Pepper – an interactive robot being used to sell NESCAFÉ coffee machines in electronic stores in Japan! He was incredible! Besides selling coffee, he’s an excellent dancer!]
[We left early in the morning to spend a day at one of our factories, which meant we got to see a stunning sunrise on the way.]
[There, we met one of our baristas. He is the doppelgänger of one of my colleagues in the Grand Rapids, Michigan office. Hands down!]
[He showed us how to make latte art and then let us experiment on our own. We also got to create our own coffee cocktail in teams.]
[Our team worked together on three case studies during the 10 days]
[We had a great coach, who not only brought us chocolate, but kept the judges out for an extra minute or two while we scrambled to finish our presentation.]
[All smiles after turning in our presentation!]
[I missed the final celebration dinner, because I was heading to Lisbon. Our team won the case study competition and celebrated with a champagne toast!]
I am so proud to work for such an amazing company that provides incredible experiences, stretches me as a professional, and introduces me to fabulous people from all over the world. I’m so grateful that they took the chance on me almost nine years ago. It’s been an adventure greater than what I ever could have imagined! My biggest learning of the week? It all starts with a NESCAFÉ!
