It’s Carnival time in Europe. I admittedly did a search on Wikipedia to see if I was right in assuming it’s their version of Mardi Gras. In short, it is. (Though I’m certain that someone more knowledgeable than me would be able to share more about the similarities and differences.) Carnival is the celebration leading up to Lent, and while many countries celebrate it differently, most involve masks, costumes, and parades in their celebrations.
Last night, we had a chance to go to a Carnivale party – complete with masks. I scoured Vevey for a mask and found the most outrageous one I could find. There wasn’t a huge selection, but I think the excessive pink glitter was a nice touch.
One of our friends didn’t have one, so at the last minute, a decision was made to make one out of what we had available…which was a box of Piccolinis (basically, pizza bites)! Gotta love the resourcefulness in this group!
