For those of you following for quite sometime, you undoubtedly remember the unbelievable event that took place in Gstaad this time last year…Country Night! I knew that I couldn’t keep the event to myself; I needed to share it with other American friends. Since the friend who joined me last year is no longer living here, a different group of us headed out to experience another event. And it. was. AWESOME!
I was up early to pick up a visitor from the airport. We went for breakfast and a walk when we got back to Vevey. She’s here for meetings, and I’m so excited for time with her.
It was such a beautiful day that we decided to head out early to stop at Glacier 3000 on our way to Gstaad. As usual, it was colder than anticipated at the top of the mountain. I brought a scarf, but a hat and gloves would’ve been nice. When will I learn?! The views are always so incredible. I think that impairs my memories when it comes to dressing appropriately.
Our first order of business at the top was to ride the Alpine Coaster!
After the ride, we climbed up to the suspension bridge. When I visited last year, this was under construction, so it was my first time. There were lots of stairs, and we felt each one due to the high elevation, but the views at the top were amazing!
I was happy that we passed a group of cows on our way to Gstaad, so my visitor could see that cows and cowbells are a real thing around here!
Like last year, there was so much American décor! It’s funny to see how they interpret country. It’s a mixture of true country, Texas (horseshoe decorations), desert (cactus, Sante Fe bar), Mexico (sombreros), Native Americans (bison head and headdresses), and even a few California license plates for good measure! Such a funny interpretation! Check out the table of matching ladies – all ready for some serious line dancing!
There was a free photo booth, and we definitely took advantage! These photos are some of my favorites of the year!
All of this probably would’ve been enough, but in addition to all of this, we had great music! We missed the opening act, but heard Patty Loveless, Philpp Fankhauser, and Chris Young. I think the group would agree that Philpp Fankhauser was the favorite! What a great musician with an AMAZING band!
