Last year, I visited Martigny to see the Renoir exhibit at Foundation Pierre Gianadda. This year, a Matisse exhibit was being advertised. I didn’t intend to go, but when a colleague mentioned it, I reconsidered. After all, I won’t always have this amazing art at my disposal.
Two other friends were interested in joining me on Sunday afternoon. We wanted to find some lunch before seeing the exhibit, and boy, did we find a gem! The Martigny Steakhouse. We sat outside, even though it was a little cold. It was too nice not to take advantage! And, all three of us ordered the Burger Texan. Shockingly, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had since living here!
In order to avoid missing out on daylight, we took a walk through the sculpture park before viewing the art inside. The fall tones are quite muted in Switzerland, but this park boasted one of the brightest trees I’ve seen here.
Including some of his Cut Outs (if you remember I saw a huge display of Cut Outs at the Tate Modern in London last summer)…
