For the past 2.5 years, I’ve spent every other Monday night with a group of women from my church in Lausanne. Sometimes travel prevented me from attending, but I made it a priority when I was in town. Because we were one of only two English speaking groups, you can imagine that many of the members were passing through Switzerland like me (which just means more friends scattered around the world).
There were maybe 2-3 Americans in the group, but it was truly international with representation from Canada, UK, South Africa, Switzerland, Singapore, Norway, South Korea, and Germany. I loved that.
I am really independent, but I recognize the importance of community. I am grateful for these women who spoke truth into my life on a regular basis, encouraged me during the crazy moments of the past couple of years, and celebrated with me during the exciting times. I will miss our bi-weekly meetings, the laughter, and their friendship. I’m already looking forward to future reunions wherever they might be.
