Last week, I started my new job in St. Louis, Missouri. I’ve worked on this Nestlé Purina campus twice before, so thankfully, it’s not all new.
On the first day, I was thrilled to find out that my office is on the city side. There is an awesome view of downtown, Busch Stadium, and the Arch out my window.
Arriving in spring is the best, because the grounds around the office are in bloom!
It’s also great to be back in St. Louis to see “old” colleagues. Even when they work in different cities, they still come back for meetings.
And I love that I’m around to more easily celebrate life events with friends. One of my dear friends (and former cubemates) is having a baby at the end of April, and her team threw a baby shower lunch last week.
One of the things that didn’t go as planned last week was IT related. For a brief moment, all looked good…my new phone was working, my new computer was working, and I appeared as Megan Alford in the system. Then something mysterious happened, and I became ,DAVID. Yes, you read that right…comma David. I don’t have a guess as to how this happened, but the craziest thing is that it remained that way without anyone figuring out how to fix it through Friday.
My new team has a great sense of humor, and they made me a new name plaque outside of my office:
I was out of the office today picking up my new car and attending Opening Day (more on those activities in another post), so I didn’t get to check on the situation today. Here’s hoping I can go back to being Megan Alford tomorrow…
