I am a third generation Cardinals fan. My dad grew up in Nashville listening to games on the radio with my grandpa. Growing up in northeast Ohio, we went to see the Cards almost every time they came to Pittsburgh to play the Pirates. When I got a bit older, we would visit my aunt in St. Louis most summers, so we could see them play in Busch Stadium. My dad loves when I’m based in St. Louis, because he sees a lot more of the Cardinals.
Live sporting events are one of my favorite things to attend. This was something I really missed while in Europe. When I realized I would be back in the US in time for Opening Day in St. Louis, I was thrilled! I found a friend who was available to come with me, which gave us opportunity for some quality catch up time, too!
St. Louis is a baseball town, and Opening Day is a huge event! There were over 47,000 people in the stadium!! It was POURING in the morning, but miraculously, the clouds parted in the early afternoon, and it was super sunny by game time! So much more fun than watching in the rain!
I couldn’t decide between a corn dog and nachos, so I got both! (Don’t worry; we shared the nachos!) I needed to document my first ballpark food in a long time, which turned into a full on photo shoot as we tried to find the best backdrop and lighting! I was laughing so hard after the seventh picture. I think our neighbors thought we were crazy!
