It was so fun to see my niece and nephew in person over the weekend! One of my priorities while in Europe was to FaceTime them regularly, so they would know who I am. Because of the time difference, I could only connect with them on the weekends, but I loved when they started to recognize me on the other side of the screen. My heart melted when they started blowing kisses “good-bye.”
This weekend, they not only recognized me, but my nephew started calling me Megan. I loved getting to play Candy Land early in the morning with him before everyone else was up, enjoying yogurt together on the front porch in our pj’s, and reading “Go, Dog, Go.”
I loved walking to Piedmont Park with both of them in the wagon, getting scones at the local market, and watching them play at the playground and feed the ducks.
[Can you say static?!]
[Believe it or not, she held on to her scone without dropping it the whole time we were at the playground. I was seriously impressed.]
On Sunday morning, I met my Birthday Twin and his wife for church. It was baptism Sunday, and they baptized people from Colombia, Congo, and Mexico (among many Americans, of course). I felt like I was right back at my church in Switzerland hearing testimonies of people from all over the world, which I loved!
Afterward, I called my brother to ask what I should bring home for lunch. He specifically requested The Varsity. Like father, like son, I guess.
Being Aunt Megan is a really fun job!
