Even before I moved back to the US, I knew a friend from my church in Switzerland would be visiting St. Louis during my first month. I should say…a friend I met in Switzerland. She actually moved to the US six months ago and is working in Florida. She attended a conference a few hours from St. Louis and wanted to stay here for several days when it ended.
This single visitor would’ve been enough to excite me, but a couple of weeks ago, I learned that one of my friends would be in St. Louis for work at the same time. She is currently living in Switzerland and is one of the friends who joined me for my final weekend road trip.
TWO visitors from Switzerland in St. Louis at the same time?! This called for a reunion dinner!! I invited another family to join us. I met them when we were both living in Switzerland, and now, we’re all living here in St. Louis. They added in one more guest – another Vevey guy who was also in town for work. All of us went out to dinner at Gamlin Whiskey House, which has some of the best Shrimp & Grits in the city!
We told stories, laughed uncontrollably, and caught up on the latest adventures. I left with a really happy heart and even found myself chuckling about some of the stories we retold today. I hope this is the first of many reunions with these and other friends from Switzerland. It’s so special to have quality time with those who lived the experience with me.
