The month of May started off with a lot of work as I moved into my new place, but after that, the focus shifted to finding the fun around the city. It also included a lot of new friends along the way!
One of the benefits of being back in St. Louis is proximity to one of my college roommates who lives about two hours away. She came to town for a Friday of fun with her family. I was able to join them for an early dinner. We didn’t get a group photo, but we did snap this one!
That same night, I got to meet some new friends at Sasha’s Wine Bar in the Tower Grove neighborhood. The weather didn’t cooperate for us to enjoy the patio, but it was still a great evening.
I laughed at the HUGE selection of Memorial Day / 4th of July décor at Hobby Lobby! What I would’ve done to access this goodness for my parties the past two summers (both 2014 and 2015)!
My first piece of snail mail came across the pond to my new home!
I attended another charity auction / dinner event. Unlike the last one, this one was formal. A friend invited me to be her plus one. Unfortunately, it was an abnormally cold day – maybe in the 50’s (*F). I didn’t wear a jacket, because I figured we could move quickly from car to inside the venue.
After we took this cute photo, I realized that the event was in a tent OUTSIDE! And not an enclosed tent. One with two sides creating a wind tunnel! And no space heaters! I made it about 10 minutes before leaving to run home and get a wrap. I guess it’s not only hiking excursions where I mis-dress for the conditions!
I went to my third Cardinals game of the season and witnessed my third win!! (Pretty impressive that I’ve seen them win each time, since their record isn’t very good this season.)
A friend and I went to Chinese Cultural Days at the Missouri Botanical Gardens with some new friends. I’ve seen some of the impressive events the Botanical Gardens has put on, so I had high expectations. The event didn’t quite deliver, but it was a beautiful day outside. And my new friends reminded me how small the world is!
The “Grand Parade”…not sure it earned the right to call itself “grand.” These photos capture ALL of the things in the parade. I think it last a whopping five minutes. Maybe 10.
There were other demonstrations taking place all day around the gardens.
And of course, we needed to take a selfie in the rose garden.
I know I’ve only been here two months, but I’ve already attended a good-bye party for one of my new friends. She’s moving to Mexico City. I will likely get to see her in November when I’m there for a wedding, but I will miss having her in St. Louis.
I celebrated my 10 year service anniversary with Nestlé Purina on May 22. Apparently, my ,David issues aren’t fully resolved, because my unsigned award came from the Product Technology Center, and I’ve never worked in that division. They’re working on a re-do.
Last week, we celebrated PetCare Pride Day at work. This was the 15th annual event. It started out as a team building day following the merger between Nestlé and Purina. Now, it’s a opportunity for us to give back to the community. I went to a food pantry in Ferguson for the morning. Along with nearly 100 colleagues. I took this picture from a colleagues social media post.
Back at the office, teams built & decorated dog houses to be donated to local pet shelters. I’m always amazed at the creativity!
And just a few days ago, a new Whole Foods Market opened on the ground floor of my apartment building! It’s open SEVEN days a week from 8:00am-10:00pm. What a change from grocery store opening times in Vevey!
Add in some free Saturday morning yoga classes at lululemon in Central West End, several delicious meals with friends, a new church & small group, and I would have to say it’s been a good month.
I still haven’t decided what the future of the blog will be. For now, I’m using it as a tool to help me focus on the good things happening during this time of transition.

Looks and sounds like it’s been a typical “Megan Month” – just in a new location:) Thanks for recapping so well:)

Congrats on the 10 years, even if it was from the wrong department. If you do get a chance to meet Dan Smith he is a great guy.

Bassey
