My dad came to visit the week before Thanksgiving. He was with me when I saw the new townhome with a realtor, but he hasn’t been here since I moved in and did work to it. While he was here, we crammed as much into three week nights as possible. We had dinner with his sister & one of my good friends. It was a pretty last minute thing, but it ended up being SO MUCH FUN. We laughed SO hard swapping a variety of stories. My favorite was my aunt’s retelling of my cousin meeting Hillary Clinton in Columbus, Ohio. Her version:
My aunt: Your cousin met Hillary Clinton. He drove her when she visited Columbus.
The rest of us: What?! Doesn’t she have Secret Service and private drivers driving her around.
My aunt: He drives for Uber now. I think that’s how he drove her.
The rest of us: There’s no way Hillary is riding in Uber cars!!!
What really happened (which we learned via text exchange with my cousin as my aunt was telling her version of the story):
My cousin volunteered in the motorcade when Hillary Clinton visited Columbus, Ohio. He got to take a picture with her. He did not drive her anywhere. He is not an Uber driver.
My dad also got to come with me to Soup Supper with my House Church (this is what my church calls our small groups). Once a month, our hosts make a pot of soup, and we have dinner all together.
And finally, we went to a St. Louis Blues hockey game with two of my good friends! (LGB! Let’s Go Blues!)
Somehow I managed to put the Christmas tree up and pack for a 10-day trip in the midst of all of that fun. Hooray for visitors! And a Blues victory!
