Some good-byes are harder than others, and this week I have to say good-bye to four really dear friends. The first one departing is the grill master (the guest of honor at our Baked Potato Bar). A lover of potatoes, Dyson vacuums, supply chain, wrestling, board games, and Chicago sports teams. He grilled any time possible…at birthday parties and most definitely at the 4th of July…both years! Some of my non-Nestlé friends actually refer to him as the Grill Master.
Over the past year and a half, we traveled to Strasbourg & Colmar for Christmas markets, Jordan (we visited Jerash, the Dead Sea, Petra, and Wadi Rum…where he helped me brave my first bouldering experience), and Lyon.
And while in Switzerland, there were so many shenanigans! We celebrated birthdays (including his 30th!), crashed a wedding, cheered for the US in the World Cup, tasted wine in the vineyards, summited mountain peaks, picnicked by the lake, said good-bye to other American friends…so many times, dressed up for Halloween, watched the NFL at the local Canadian bar, celebrated Friendsgiving, Christmas, and New Years, attended a masquerade, entertained US visitors, welcomed Baby Freedom, went paragliding, experienced Country Night and the Glacier 3000 Alpine Coaster, and watched a Cardinals / Cubs playoff game.
He is moving to Cleveland and will be living less than 10 minutes from one of my best friends, so future rendezvous will be unavoidable. Until then, I will miss the laughter that comes from our time together. Wishing you all the best on your next adventure, my friend!
